The National Center for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) Environmental Modeling Center
(EMC) North Amerian Regional Reanalysis (NARR) dataset is a long-term homogenous
mesoscale regional analysis performed with a frozen model and data assimilation system.
It covers the domain of North America and its adjacent oceans from Jan 1 1979 to
Dec 31 2001. All data fields are in GRIB format and the GrADS control and index files
are provided with the data. Three climatologies are included. The total data volume of all
climatologies is about 14GB compressed.
Comment: The climatology is for the period 1979-2001. The errors from the original archive were corrected. The latest years like 2002 -2004 are not included. There is a reason for that. The precipitation input data over the United States and over the oceans before 2002 are not the same as the ones after 2002. The gauge data have a few year delay and they are not available near real time so we switched to other precip data. This is the reason that we have not been updating the climatology.
