Monthly Means, Variances and Covariancesback to top
Monthly means are available for selected model resolution analyses, all model resolution forecast products and the 2.5 degree products. There are two monthly mean products, one computed for each analysis hour (00, 06, 12 and 18UTC) and another as a diurnal mean of the analysis hours. Variances and Covariances are also available for some model level data as well as the surface pressure. Monthly means are also available for the 3 and 6 hour forecasts for the surface fields and the 6 hour forecasts for the pressure and model level products.

ERA-40 Products Created at NCARback to top
The ERA-40 products furnished by ECMWF have been augmented with products created at NCAR. Surface pressure was computed as a supplement for the 2.5 degree resolution data products (as well as on the reduced Gaussian grid). The U and V wind components on the 2.5 degree latitude-longitude pressure level grids have been recomputed because of incosistencies on the order of .5 m/s in the original data. For more info, please see http://dss.ucar.edu/datasets/common/ecmwf/ERA40/docs/emos-diagnostics/. Monthly mean 2.5 degree U and V have also been recomputed. T85 fields are being derived on both model and pressure levels. This was designed and initiated to aid users of the NCAR Community Climate System Model directly, and others that desire ready access to fully synthesized fields that circumvents the need to deal with the spectral (spherical harmonic) form of these data products.
