A global summary is done for each month during the 1800-2005 time period. Note: For data beyond 2005, please see NOAA's ICOADS website.
The summary data are maintained in a format call Monthly Summary Groups (MSG). MSG is a customized binary packed format designed to store large amounts of data with minimum file size and group together variables that are often used together.

NOTE: The data will have void regions at some places in the global ocean. The data are not interpolated or analyzed, so values exist only where in situ observations were made.
The data are also available in ASCII format.
