 CDMP
 The CDMP is a partnership between NCDC and private industry to image and key paper and microfilm records and to make them available to members of the climate and environmental research community. See the CDMP homepage for more information about the program.
We currently have some data from the CDMP in our data archive, and we have plans to add more data in the future.
 CDMP DATA CURRENTLY IN THE ARCHIVE
- U.S. Hourly Surface Station Data
We have hourly surface observations for 216 U.S. stations generally from 1928 through 1948, inclusive. These data are archived in data set ds506.0, where more information can be obtained. The stations in this category generally took observations at hourly intervals at least during the daytime hours and often during the full 24-hour day.
- U.S. Form 1001 Surface Station Data
The Form 1001 data consist of surface observations from 131 U.S. stations from about 1893-on. Stations that reported on Form 1001 generally took observations two or four times daily. The following images are samples of the monthly Form 1001 for January 1895 at Denver, Colorado:
DATA TO BE ADDED IN THE FUTURE
- U.S. Forts Station Data
Data from U.S. Forts stations include temperature, wind, clouds, and pressure at 7am, 2pm and 9pm local time, and daily maximum and minimum temperature. As of March 2005, the CDMP had keyed data for 28 forts from the original observation forms. Sample forms, for January 1870 from Fort Lyon, Colorado, can be viewed below:
- Galapagos Island Raob Data
As of August 2005, the CDMP is almost ready to begin a project to digitize about nine years of Galapagos Island sounding data. DSS will receive the output and run some quality control checks on the data before making them available to the community.
