Firefox 3 and the CISL RDA Security CertificateWhen you try to register or sign in to our website with Firefox 3, you may get a dire-looking error message titled "Secure Connection Failed". The message goes on to say that our security certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed. It is true that we self-sign our security certificate, but it is safe for you to connect to our server. We do not collect any personal information, like social security number, birth date, etc., that could put your identity at risk. The information that you do send when you register and sign in is encrypted and sent in secure mode. At the bottom of the error message, you will see in small print a link that says "Or you can add an exception...". It is safe for you to click this link and follow the instructions for adding an exception that will allow your Firefox browser to trust our security certificate. If you have any questions about this issue or security in general when connecting to the CISL RDA web site, please contact us. |
