	Basic Consolidated dataset (ds111.2) updated through June 1999

The Basic Consolidated Dataset (ds111.2) has been updated with the second
quarter of 1999 data.  You can obtain the listing of the volume serial
numbers containing the data from the file datasets/ds111.2/MASTER
via anonymous FTP to ncardata.ucar.edu.  Or, use a WWW browser and open 
the URL http://www.ucar.edu/dss/datasets/ds111.2.html.  This file is also 
on the Mass Store under the name /DSS/D/DS1112.  

The data files (all in the /DSS/ directory on the MSS) are:

 Y50503         1999APR
 Y52057         1999MAY
 Y52058         1999JUN

       New levels added to ds111.2 starting in April, 1999

Starting in April, 1999 ECMWF had added 6 new levels to the ds111.2 dataset.
These levels are 20mb, 7mb, 5mb, 3mb, 2mb and 1mb.  The list of parameters
which are output on each of these new levels are geopotential (parm code =
129), temperature (130), U and V wind components (131,132), vertical velocity
(135), and relative humidity (157).  A detailed description of this change
in the model can be found in the Winter 1998/99 issue of ECMWF's Newsletter.

       Basic Consolidated dataset (ds111.2) may be updated monthly

We may start receiving updates for the ds111.2 data on a monthly basis.
I prefer not to send these bulletins out on a monthly basis, so I will
continue to send the bulletins out quarterly.  I suggest checking the
MASTER document for ds111.2 either via ftp or the WEB to check and see
if the monthly updates are available.  I am not sure if this will be
the permanent schedule for the ds111.2 updates.  This could change at
any time.
