Data for the Southern Hemisphere are maintained in two separate files; one for the Australia area and one for the Southern Hemisphere as a whole. The Australia area data file has been created from an Australian Bureau of Meteorology data set of tropical cyclone position and intensity data. The file for the Southern Hemisphere as a whole comes from the JTWC best track data. It is important to realize that track and intensity data for Australia area storms do not always agree between the two files.
