ds570.1 DATA FORMATGo to Dataset:

File Format:

One "Format 1" card, followed by 11 or 12 "Format 2" cards for each element (e.g. - for three elements, there will be a total of 34 or 37 cards for a station).

Format 1 Card Format:

Columns	Description
1-2	Blank
3-7	WMO station number
8	Card designation - always '1'
9-13	Latitude (right-justified)
14-19	Longitude (right-justified)
20-43	Name of country (left-justified)
44-67	Name of station (left-justified)
68-72	Height of station in meters
73-78	Height of barometer in tenths of meters
79-80	Blank
81-89	NCDC record number of data handling

Format 2 Card Format:

Columns	Description
1-2	Blank
3-7	WMO station number
8	Element designation 2 = station pressure 3 = sea-level pressure 4 = temperature 5 = rain
9-12	Year
13	Temporal designation blank = yearly data 1 = decadal mean data 2 = long-term means from the WMO climatological normals
14-18	Element data value for January in tenths
19-23	Element data value for February in tenths
24-28	Element data value for March in tenths
29-33	Element data value for April in tenths
34-38	Element data value for May in tenths
39-43	Element data value for June in tenths
44-48	Element data value for July in tenths
49-53	Element data value for August in tenths
54-58	Element data value for September in tenths
59-63	Element data value for October in tenths
64-68	Element data value for November in tenths
69-73	Element data value for December in tenths
74-78	Element data value for the year in tenths
79-80	Blank
81-89	NCDC record number of data handling
