Global 5 degree area surface temperature anomalies.

There are two files within this directory :

    cdrom/Landsst/README         --   This File
    cdrom/Landsst/landsst.txt    --   Global 5 dg surface temperature anomalies

Data are stored in ASCII

File 1 : readme_l.txt (Dir: /CDROM/Document/Text)

File 2 :   5 degree MOHSST6 sea surface temperature anomalies
           combined with University of East Anglia 5 degree area
           land surface temperature anomalies with respect to
           1961 to 1990 climatology.  Period is 1851 - 1995.
           Each Files Represent 50 years of data.
           (IE. Lsst1851.hdf: begyear=1851 endyear=1900)
           (IE. Lsst1901.hdf: begyear=1901 endyear=1950)
           (IE. Lsst1951.hdf: begyear=1951 endyear=1995)

    All values are integers (stored in 6 digits).
    Anomalies are stored as temperatures * 100

    5-deg-areas with no data are set to -32768,

    The month and year are stored at the start of each month.

    Data Array (72x36)
    Item (1,1) stores the value for the 5-deg-area centred at 177.5W and 87.5N
    Item (72,36) stores the value for the 5-deg-area centred at 177.5E and 87.5S

  The ASCII Data File may be read using the following Fortran routine
  after it has been converted from the original HDF Data File:
  (For 'hdf2asci' conversion please go to the software directory)

  The following Fortran program will read the month into
  MON and the year into IYR and the SST anomalies for each
  month into the integer array ISST (72,36).
